Dec. 7, 2007

BERKELEY - California senior Chris Chavez earned first-team Pac-10 all-academic honors for the 2007 cross country season, while junior Mark Matusak garnered second-team recognition, Pac-10 commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

Between the men's and women's teams, nine other Golden Bears earned honorable mention honors. Those nine runners were seniors Rebecca Yau and Pippa Macdonald, juniors Yosef Ghebray, Matt Miller, Dawit Tesfasilassie and Rebecca Palm, sophomores Michael Coe and Alison Greggor and freshman Rowena Tam.
