Assistant Athletic Director - Major Gifts

Job Description:
Reporting directly to the Associate Athletic Director, Development, the Assistant Athletic Director - Major Gifts is responsible for managing the Major Gifts Programs of the University of California, Berkeley Athletic Department.  In this capacity, he/she directs a staff of major gift officers, who identify, cultivate and solicit donor prospects to the University, defined as individuals considered capable of giving $250,000 or more.  In addition, he/she is personally responsible for coordinating all cultivation and solicitation of a portfolio of at least 125 major gift donors.
Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant Athletic Director - Major Gifts supervises major gift officers in managing the nation-wide campaign volunteer structure and in developing ongoing plans for the major gift programs.  He/She evaluates results of programs and other efforts of the major gift officers as well as their success in meeting specific fundraising goals.  The Assistant Athletic Director - Major Gifts is expected to play a key role in developing and implementing volunteer and staffing plans for the major gifts program.
The Assistant Athletic Director - Major Gifts is the senior development strategist on the major gifts team.  In this capacity, he/she serves as a mentor and advisor to major gift officers in the athletic department in developing and implementing cultivation and solicitation plans for major donors to the university.  The Assistant Athletic Director - Major Gifts works with the Associate Athletic Director, Development, Senior Staff, the leadership in the central development office, and the campus units to establish fundraising goals for the major gifts program.  He/she devises funding strategies for new projects in consultation with campus administrators, volunteers and donors.
The Assistant Athletic Director - Major Gifts must develop original funding strategies tailored to the University's wealthiest and most important donors and prospects.  He/She needs to take experience gained from earlier solicitations and apply it in new and original ways.

Dir of Ops - Olympic Sports

The Director of Operations - Olympic Sports will provide administrative support for assigned athletic programs & activities.  In conjunction with the coaching staff, the incumbent will assist in the development and coordination of team operations, recruiting, youth camps, donor relations and coaching clinics.  He/she will also assist in coordinating team travel arrangements and game day operations. 
Job Responsibilities:
A. Travel
1. Assist in coordinating arrangements for team travel, including but not limited to hotel arrangements, ground transfer, practice facility approval, game credentials, itineraries, practice times, meals, etc.
2. Assist in coordinating/booking air travel with Department travel agent.
3. Make arrangements for recruiting travel for coaches (air, ground, and hotel).
4. Make arrangements for visiting students (prospective student-athletes).
5. Complete necessary paperwork, including itineraries, rooming lists, travel authorization forms and expense reports.
B. Team Administration
1. Complete forms, provide information, and serve as liaison to various Department staff members regarding student-athletes, recruits, and staff, including admissions, financial aid, and housing forms and applications.
2. Assist in coordinating  donor activities with Development Office, including correspondence and acknowledgements.
3. Assist in coordinating marketing activities with Marketing Office when applicable.
4. Do purchasing, including obtaining price quotes and completion of paperwork.
5. Serve as liaison with Youth Programs manager for summer camps.
6. Screen mail and phone calls.
7. Assist with budget management, as directed.
C. Recruiting
1. Under coaches' direction, coordinate recruiting activities, including managing data base, mailings, and arrangements for official and unofficial visits, and recruiting gate list.
2. Create and maintain recruiting files.
3. Assist in organizing admissions process for recruits, obtain and track transcripts, test scores through evaluation process.
4. Have knowledge of all NCAA compliance regulations with regard to recruiting.
D. Game day management
1. Prepare game/meet information, game/meet schedule.
2. Contact opposing coaches for away game information.
3. Coordinate player and coach ticket request list for home and away contests.
4. Assist with stats and game management in home events, as needed.
5. Assist with video recording and editing, as needed
E. Special Events
Special events include but are not limited to pre-season games, donor events, tournaments, and post-season play.
1. Negotiate, secure, and implement arrangements for special events including but not limited to, site inspections, travel, hotel arrangements, etc.
2. Secure ground and equipment transfer, practice facility approval, site credentials, itineraries, etc.
3. Recruit host families and instruct them on duties with team.
4. Arrange hospitality for teams and visiting dignitaries.

Athletic Ticket Office Interns (2)

Job Description:
The Athletic Ticket Office Interns will work directly with the Associate Ticket Manager to ensure all operations for each sport are accomplished including mailings, will call, ticket printing, and player guest admissions. The intern will act as a liaison with coaches and director of operations for each primary sport. This internship is designed to expose the individual to all aspects of the ticket office operation. The intern will gain valuable experience and insight into a variety of areas within the college athletic administration.
Job Responsibilities:
Work directly with the Associate Ticket Manager to assist in all aspects of the Cal Athletic Ticket Office day-to-day operations. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assist in day-to-day activities in the ticket office: mailing tickets, customer service on the phone and window, answering emails, help supervise part-time workers.
• Use of Paciolan will include: processing mail, fax, and window orders, on-line ticketing, ticket reconciliations, data entry and complimentary tickets.
• Supervised directly by the Associate Ticket Manager.
• The candidate will work Football and Men's Basketball games as assigned.
• Primary sport responsibilities are Women's Soccer, Track and Field, Men's and Women's Gymnastics and Baseball.
• Secondary sport responsibilities are Rugby and Women's Basketball as assigned by the Associate Ticket Manager.
• This position will work with Development, Marketing, Events Management and other units within the Athletic Department to coordinate game days.

Assistant Athletic Trainer

Assistant Athletic Trainer working with IAD1 Athletics Teams and other sports/duties as assigned.  Assist with direct provision of Injury Evaluation, Athletic Training and Rehabilitation Services for Intercollegiate Athletes - Working in collaboration with Staff, and Head Athletic Trainer, and Team Physicians. 
Job Responsibilities:
Daily operations for the athletic training room as above, and also including the following:
• sport team responsibilities/assignments as specified by Head Athletic Trainer; communication with coaches and student athlete of specified teams;
• access for patient athlete appointments with the medical staff, and coordination with physicians/medical personnel on care of student athletes;
• injury reporting and documentation, maintenance of medical charts
• inventory, ordering and restocking of clinical and clerical supplies;
• ensuring safety of patients and staff by enforcing safety procedures;  
• appropriate training and adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g. blood-borne pathogen training and prevention, annual TB testing and other health screening requirements)
• maintenance and upkeep of the athletic training room and other sites as designated;
• required continued education and continued good standing with N.A.T.A  Board of Certification;
• other duties as specified by the Head Athletic Trainer

Licensing and Publications Coordinator

The Licensing and Publications Coordinator will report to the Publications Manager.  The position is part of the Athletic Marketing Department team.  The candidate will assist the Publications Manager with the creation, design and project management of collateral pieces used to drive ticket sales and enhance the Cal brand.  The position will also assist the Asst. Athletic Director for Business Development with artwork approvals for the domestic licensing program and assist with licensing strategy to enhance the Cal brand and grow retail sales.
Job Responsibilities:
Domestic Licensing Program - 50%
A. Oversee the online artwork approval process for the domestic licensing program.  Ensure licensees are using approved artwork on merchandise intended for resale. 
B. Assist with communications and strategy between our domestic licensing agency (Collegiate Licensing Company) and the approximately 300 licensees approved to use Cal marks for resale.
C. Assist with the development of marketing plans for merchandise sales on calbears.com and at athletic events.
Graphic Design - 40%
A. Design and production of marketing materials used to support ticket sales, such as brochures, magnets, schedule cards and posters. 
B. Design artwork used for video board production during athletic events.
C. Design and production of event signage, sales and promotions flyers, calendars.
D. Production of artwork needed for web advertising on calbears.com or in athletic department emails, such as banner ads and buttons.
E. Production of print ads used in newspapers and other local publications to promote Cal athletics.
F. Assist with production of artwork used on promotional items given away at athletic events.
Other - 10%
A. Assist with special events and promotions at athletic events.
B. Ensure confidentiality of information. 
C. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).  At least 1 year of design experience, preferably with a recreational or athletic organization.  Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.  A Bachelors degree or equivalent work exp.

Assist Director of Media Relations (Sr. Writer) 80%

Asst. Video Coordinator

Job Description:
We are looking for a candidate who has a working knowledge of video and knows how video relates to athletics and its importance with regards to study, evaluation, and entertainment to coaches and spectators.  The candidate must also support the Sports Video Office by assisting in the teaching of Undergraduate Assistants, and working at various sporting events to fill needed roles within the Video Office.  This is a contract position.
Job Responsibilities:
Editing football practice and games during the football season.  Assisting with weekly tape exchange.  Creating opponent and self-scout video breakdowns for offense, defense and special teams using the XOS system.  Filming games both at home and on the road.  Producing and filming clinic videos.  Archiving and organizing tape library.  Assisting video setups for special functions including banquets, recruiting weekends, and coaching clinics.  Producing various banquet videos and promotional spots for non-revenue sports.
 
Selection Criteria - Required:
Required:  Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.  Applicants must have at least one year of experience working in a sports video office at a Division I/IAA College/University or the professional level.  Qualified applicants must possess prior camera operating experience and non-linear editing experience.  Familiarity with professional video formats.  Prior experience using one of the following: XOS, Pinnacle, or Webb non-linear editing systems.  Proficient with the use of post production software.  Applicants must be available to work weekends, nights, and holidays.
